Videos stand as the most popular form of Internet recreation and online marketing. With the availability of handy and affordable recording/digital cameras, video-making has been set free from the confines of videography expertise and today millions of people are making their short personal videos everywhere on this planet. Many people are uploading videos for marketing purpose on MySpace where they have become an almost inseparable part of any impressive profile.

How popular exactly are the internet videos? In her recently published book Show Me: Marketing with Video on the Internet, videography expert Jessica Kizorek regards online videos as the ‘future of mass communication and influence’. The impact of video marketing on the audience can be best represented by Dr. Mehrabians’ widely referenced publication Study of Communications, which reveals that people remember 50% of the content of online videos as against a maximum of 30% of other modes of communication. No wonder then that MySpace marketing abounds in the use of online videos.

Today, the most popular website for online videos is Youtube that has millions of users from all parts of the world. Most of the videos on MySpace are Youtube videos linked on a MySpace profile. Since they leave a greater educational, commercial, and recreational impact on the viewer, videos meant for marketing need to be of high quality, quick to download/play, and interesting enough for the viewer to be watched till their end. In most cases, professional editing by expert editors in MySpace marketing is required for enhancing the content and videography effects of the recording.

The length of a MySpace video is a prime consideration in effective marketing on the site. While it has been found that visitors like to watch videos for a longer time than text messages or other kinds of ads, a long video will take more time to download and will have to be made with excessive care so as to hold the reader’s interest till its end. For these reasons, MySpace videos have to be rather short – preferably no more than 5 minutes – and free of offensive images, language, or any disagreeable content that may scare the reader away. Again, it is the professional web designer/editor who polishes a video into a marketing gem.

Online videos are now considered a critically important element to sales. With a mega-traffic social networking site like MySpace, there is an enormous potential for online video marketing. For professionals in business, technology, sports, fashion, and many other fields, video marketing on MySpace is a miraculous means of reaching an unlimited number of viewers by spending just a small sum.
